As industry is full of credit repair scam, you may fall prey to those scams and make your credit rating even worse. If someone says that they can “erase” your bad credit, it is definitely a scam. You can avoid this kind of situation if you become little vigilant while looking for some company to fix your bad credit.
Email marketing can be the medium to lure you into the scam. If you receive any email regarding repairing your credit history, be wary about that. Any information that is true cannot be removed by anyone. If somebody offers to erase that information, that is a fake claim.
There are credit repair companies which charge money to provide services and other which do not charge any money. In any case, you can ask for the free credit repair evaluation from these companies. If you are contacting a company which is charging money, it should explain you the legal rights, sign a formal written contract and allow a cooling-off period of 3 days. If it asks for money even before it provides any services, then it is scam.
Some fraudulent companies encourage you to create a new credit identity, or advise you not to contact a credit bureau directly or advise that you should dispute on every item on your credit history. All of these actions are illegal.
Therefore, it becomes extremely important to look for the reliability of the credit repair company concerned.
